Hip & joint issues are one of the biggest problems aging dogs experience. This is an even bigger problem for breeds like the German Shepherd who are genetically predisposed to hip dysplasia and other hip & joint issues. However, the good news is that once you are aware of it, you can do something about it.
Vets recommended that dogs who are predisposed to hip & joint problems begin a hip & joint supplement regimen once they are fully grown. Of course, most dogs aren’t yet experiencing any problems with their hips or joints at this point, but starting a good hip & joint regimen early on can actually delay or some even say prevent joint problems as your dog ages. This of course is the ideal situation.
But if your dog is already getting up there in age, it’s not too late. The next best thing is starting them on a supplement before the symptoms of hip & joint issues begin because if the symptoms are there, that means they are already experiencing some level of discomfort. Obviously no one wants their dog to be uncomfortable or in pain.
Unfortunately dogs can’t tell us when they are in pain and even if they could, they are masters at acting fine even when they’re not. This is a great trait for wolves and other wild animals to have, but unfortunately for our companions, it can make it more difficult for us to help them if we are waiting for them to show us that they don’t feel good.
If you notice your dog slowing down, having trouble bending their neck to drink, or acting more hesitant to move, these are all signs that they are already feeling some level of discomfort as well. If this is the case, it’s extra important to start giving them a good hip & joint supplement right away.
We had a lot of people asking us about this and we had a hard time finding a hip & joint supplement that we could really get behind 100%. Lots of them aren’t made in the USA, the ingredients weren’t very high quality (this is definitely one of those things where quality counts), or they weren’t natural and contained all kinds of stuff your dog doesn’t really need.
So we got to work on our own hip & joint supplement that we made here in the USA with high quality natural & organic ingredients that will benefit a dog most.
Now, first things first – we knew it had to be a powder. You can just sprinkle it into a dog’s food and powder is often the strongest form of supplement so it’s easy to give it to your dog and it packs a big punch.
After tons of requests and detailed research, we also developed the perfect blend of high quality ingredients to give your dog the best support.
Glucosamine: A dog’s body naturally produces glucosamine, which helps repair damaged cartilage and protect against joint degradation. However, as dogs age, their ability to produce natural glucosamine is diminished. For many dogs, this results in arthritis and joint pain. However, supplementing the body’s naturally-occurring glucosamine with a well-sourced glucosamine supplement can help their body continue to repair damaged cartilage and keep their joints functioning well even as they approach their senior years. We included high quality glucosamine in our supplement to ensure it provides your dog with as much support as possible.
Chondroitin: Chondroitin blocks harmful enzymes that break down cartilage in the joint so essentially, the glucosamine works to repair hips & joints while the chondroitin protects them from further damage. Like glucosamine, not all chondroitin is created equal. It’s important to look for a supplement with a high-quality chondroitin so you know your dog will get the maximum benefit.
MSM: Methylsulfonylmethane (or MSM for short) is a naturally occurring chemical that helps with pain and inflammation. It also helps support the formation of connective tissue and helps protect cartilage from deterioration. On top of that, several studies have found it to reduce joint pain from arthritis. Like glucosamine, MSM is created by your dog’s body, but as they age, their body has a hard time producing as much so supplementing it can be of great benefit – especially for dogs with joint issues so we included it in our special blend to provide your dog with extra support.
Bioperine: Bioperine is derived from the fruit of the black pepper plant and greatly improves the potency of the curcumin found in turmeric. When paired together, the curcumin is absorbed and metabolized more effectively which makes bioperine a great support to ensure your dog gets the best support possible from the turmeric.
Hyaluronic Acid: Hyaluronic Acid is another component that your dog’s body produces naturally and easily when they are young. It is found in the joint fluid that helps lubricate their joints. As your dog ages, their body isn’t able to produce as much hyaluronic acid, which understandably can mean further strain on their joints so we’ve included this to provide further joint support.
